Dynamic Search Ads are ads Google generates automatically by crawling your website and matching relevant searches to your pages, with no keywords required.
You usually run Search on keywords you chose, but Dynamic Search Ads flip that around. Instead of you listing every term, Google reads your website, works out what each page is about, and when someone searches for something your pages can answer, it writes a headline on the fly and sends the click to the most relevant page. You supply the descriptions and the targeting, and the system fills in the rest.
You get broad coverage cheaply this way, which is why they have stuck around for years. They are good at catching the long tail, the odd phrasing and rare searches you would never think to add as keywords, and they keep pace as your site changes. As of 2026 they still exist and run, but Google has said that Dynamic Search Ad campaigns will begin upgrading automatically to its newer AI Max for Search format in 2027, so treat what you build now as something that will move to a newer format before long.
The catch is control. They will happily match searches and pages you never intended to target, so they demand a strong negative keyword list and a clean, well structured site. Without both, they wander into junk queries and thin pages, and you pay for it.
Point them at a tidy site with tight negatives, or they will find your worst pages for you.
