A Shopping campaign shows product ads with an image, price, and store name, driven by your Merchant Center feed instead of keywords.
You sell physical products and you want the little cards with a photo, a price, and your shop name that show up when someone searches for something to buy. That is a Shopping campaign. The big difference from a Search campaign is that you do not pick keywords at all. Everything runs off your product feed in Google Merchant Center, the file that holds your titles, images, prices, and descriptions. Google reads that feed and decides which searches your products deserve to appear for. So the feed is not paperwork, it is the campaign.
Because there are no keywords to bid on, the steering happens somewhere less obvious. Your titles and product types do a lot of the matching, and your negative keyword list does the rest, keeping your dollars away from searches that will never buy. Get the feed clean and specific and Shopping becomes one of the most efficient ways to sell online.
Know that standard Shopping is increasingly being folded into Performance Max. Standard Shopping still exists and you can still run it on its own, but Google keeps nudging retailers toward letting Performance Max handle the same product inventory across more surfaces. That trade buys you reach and automation at the cost of the tidy visibility and control a standalone Shopping campaign gives you. Choose deliberately rather than drifting into the default.
In Shopping there is no keyword to fix, so fix the feed.
