Cost per view is the pricing model for X video and pre-roll campaigns where you pay each time your video is counted as viewed, not for every impression.
You set a bid, X charges you per view under whichever view definition you picked, and impressions that never reach the view threshold cost nothing. You control the ceiling with automatic or maximum bidding.
On standard billing a view counts at 50 percent on screen for two seconds or on an expand or unmute. If X serves a million impressions and 300,000 cross that threshold, you pay for 300,000 views only. Divide your video spend by views in Ads Manager to read your actual cost per view.
Cheap views are not cheap attention. A low cost per view usually means you are buying the two-second standard view, which counts a glance, so the number looks efficient while telling you nothing about whether the message landed. Judge it against completion rate, not on its own.
A low cost per view can still buy you nothing.
